As you know there are lots of social media networking sites like facebook, twitter, Myspace, Google+ and many more. And now, there’s a new social media known as Zorpia has come up.
But I would like to take this out from the start: Zorpia doesn’t give an excellent social media experience. It’s loaded with advertisements which are more notable than its content, cluttered with an overabundance of buttons and features, and, while claiming to be a website for “finding friends,” it’s clearly manipulated towards informal hook ups. Until, that is, you’re looking for some long haul relationship with somebody who considers healthy to drop her pants for a photo on her dating profile.
Zorpia Dating Sign Up Login
The minimum age to sign up is 16, but other than that, the site is mostly unrestricted. Zorpia is a way for people to meet business partners, significant others, platonic friends, activity buddies, and life partners. Users can browse through hundreds of profiles and find others based on location, age, and gender. Method 1of 2:Regular Sign Up process. Open up Zorpia on your web browser. Create an account by filling out the registration form located on the right side of your screen, then click the green button that says “Continue”. Once you are finished filling up the form, click ‘continue’ and you will be redirected to another page where you may.
Additionally, it includes a terrible spamming issue that needs to be fixed quickly. After sign up and within an hour, getting 3 unwanted e-mails from Zorpia, I realized that it’d auto-activated me to get e-mails for “common notifications”, “friending application notifications”, “dating application notifications”, “news from friends”, “recommendation notifications” and “Zorpia item updates”. Intolerable.
All that aside, I still find it pretty fascinating because of few reasons –
It has a bootstrapped startup that’s lasted for 7 years with no outside financing and today promises 25 million users. It’s among the several international Web businesses to put on an ICP permit for running in China. Really, so far as I can tell, the HongKong based organization may be the just international social-network to hold the permit.
I lately got on Skype with the founder of Zorpia and its CEO “Jeffrey Ng”, a Hongkonger who got his degree of computer science from the Illinois University, and asked him concerning the procedure for obtaining an ICP permit. He explained it took many years. To begin with, he explained, Zorpia needed seriously to put up a business in China, which took a complete year. He founded a covering organization in Kunming, to look after the China procedures. It’s that organization that has to make an application for the ICP permit.
Obtaining the permit subsequently needed studying and signing 80-page agreements. When the procedure is finished, eight various government divisions need to approve the organization each year. In just about any nation, paperwork could be a large frustration, but China takes it to an entirely new degree.
“The issue may be the info obstruction in China,” Ng explained. “Everybody suggests various things.
Connect with people around using Zorpia
Actually Mainland China think it is so hard to obtain things accomplished. You receive pressed from official to official also it required us weeks to determine who to discuss with.”
As the website has been around Mainland China ever since 2008 and it has nearly 2.8 million users from there, it had been prohibited to create cash there with no permit, Ng stated.
Obviously, among the needs of the permit is the fact that the website comply to government censorship, which is a problem for a social-network that’s filled with user-produced content.
It has 2 million special users monthly, isn’t a lucrative organization and makes all its cash from marketing. About 40 percentage of its users originate from India, and nearly 10 % from China. These would be the areas that Ng is concentrating on.

Zorpia (Chinese: 若比鄰) is a social networking service with customers in China. Zorpia is one of the few international social networks with a Chinese Internet Content Provider license.[1][2] The social networking site reports 2 million unique users per month and a total worldwide user base of 26 million.[1][3][4] Jeffrey Ng is the company's founder and CEO of Zorpia. The privately funded company is based in Hong Kong and has 30 employees.[5]
Zorpia has been accused of spamming misleading messages on behalf of people to their address books without their consent or knowledge as a way of acquiring email addresses.[6] In 2012, PandoDaily wrote that Zorpia 'has a dreadful spamming problem that it needs to fix fast.'[7]
History[edit]
In December 2003, Jeffrey Ng founded Zorpia as a social networking service.[1] Ng wanted it to be an online nation for people looking for new relationships.[8] While sites such as Facebook and Twitter are still banned in China, the ban has allowed Zorpia to use its ICP license in China to grow its user base.[1][9]
Leadership[edit]
Jeffrey Ng began his entrepreneurial career at the age of 13. He started his own Japanese music website and music search engine.[10][11][12] He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a degree in computer engineering.[11] Before building Zorpia, he worked for Expedia Inc. and at his university’s National Center for Supercomputing Applications.[4][13]
Services[edit]
Zorpia Dating Site
Zorpia's features include photo-sharing, social networking, messaging and profiles.[1][3][14][15] Zorpia has developed technology to analyze and predict compatibility between strangers, and has developed false identity prevention systems and user attractiveness discovery algorithms to help people make friends.[16]
Zorpia is one of the few social networking sites permitted for use in China.[17]
Recognition[edit]
Alexa Internet ranks Zorpia among the 6,000 most-visited websites worldwide, with a global rank of about 4000 and with 40% users from India and 10% users from China.[18][19] Alexa also ranks Zorpia among the top 1000 most popular websites in India, with a rank of 933.[18]
Zorpia.com
Business Today India named Zorpia as the growth leader in the India market from 2009 to 2010.[13]Zorpia has been recognized by CNN, China Daily, the biggest English-language newspaper in China, and it has been featured in Phoenix Television's A Date with Luyu.[14][20][21]
Privacy issues[edit]
In September 2013, Zorpia was accused of cookie theft, mining and spam. The company responded that the ratio of complaints to users is very small.
Zorpia typically asks for permission to connect to Facebook or Google account, then sends automatic emails on the user's behalf to his contacts inviting them to join to read the messages. Even after deleting their Zorpia accounts, users see their contacts flooded with such emails on their behalf. One reporter testing how the email collection occurs found one of his test email accounts had a Zorpia account created without his acknowledgement; Zorpia claimed the user had signed up and claimed many of the undesirable behaviors are bugs.[6] Opinions on the best response to Zorpia emails are mixed with some users suggesting trying to unsubscribe and some suggesting using an email feature to block emails from Zorpia.[22] One user reported even more spam activity after trying to unsubscribe.[23] A suggestion is to review Google account settings.[24]
